The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) on Wednesday declared the provisional results for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Compartmental and Improvement Examinations held from June 11-21.

A total of 1,225 out of 3,006 candidates passed the HSLC Compartmental Examinations, marking a pass rate of 40.75%.

In the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) exams, the Arts stream saw 492 out of 1,227 candidates passing, resulting in a pass rate of 40.10%. In the Commerce stream, 27 out of 62 candidates passed, achieving a 43.55% pass rate. The Science stream had a 31.16% pass rate, with 129 out of 414 candidates passing.

For the Class X improvement exams, 74 out of 81 candidates passed, achieving a pass rate of 91.36%. In the HSSLC improvement exams, the Arts stream had a pass rate of 62.50%, with 5 out of 8 candidates passing, while the Science stream saw 57 out of 69 candidates passing, resulting in an 82.61% pass rate.

The NBSE highlighted the adoption of the National Credit Framework (NCrF) from the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, lowering the eligibility criteria for the HSLC and HSSLC Compartmental and Improvement Examinations from three to four subjects. This policy allows candidates who failed in four or fewer subjects to sit for the compartmental exams, with two chances to clear their failed subjects.

Additionally, students wishing to improve their performance in the main HSLC and HSSLC Examinations 2024 were allowed to appear in the Improvement Examination in four or fewer subjects.

Candidates who qualified in the HSLC Examination but secured Needs Improvement in one subject are also given the opportunity to reappear in the Needs Improvement subject at the immediate examination so that they can apply for courses, fulfil certain recruitment criteria, and employment where they need to pass in all the subjects they have opted for, the NBSE informed
This initiative was undertaken in the greater interest of the students to clear their failed subject(s) as well as for students to improve their performance, it added.

Meanwhile, the NBSE informed that the Centre Superintendents of the HSSLC compartmental and improvement examination 2024 only shall collect the marksheets and pass certificates of their students and other categories from July 18.

Students can collect their original NBSE HSSLC, HSLC Results 2024 mark sheets, and pass certificates from school authorities by showing admit cards. Any discrepancy or error in the marksheet or pass certificate must be reported within 30 days of the announcement of the result.
