Mokokchung, September 27 (MTNews): The Luke Sasong Sporting Association (LSSA) under the aegis of the Mangmetong Students’ Union will be organizing the twelfth edition of the Luke Sasong Memorial Volleyball Trophy from 4th – 7th October 2022 at Multipurpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
This information was announced during a press conference organised by the Luke Sasong Sporting Association (LSSA) on September 27 at Mangmetong Ki, Mongsenbai ward, Mokokchung.
During the press conference, LSSA President T. Mendang Imchen also disclosed that the winners would get a cash award of Rs. 70,000 along with trophy and certificates, while the runners-up will receive a cash prize of Rs. 40,000 along with certificates. Each of the semifinalists would receive Rs.10,000 each. Further, three individual awards — Man of the Tournament, Best Setter, and Best Spiker — will also be handed a cash award of Rs. 5000 each at the tournament.
Previously, the Luke Sasong Memorial Volleyball Trophy was only played at the village level at Mangmetong Village, but this year the association opted to organize the trophy in the district headquarter. Twelve teams in all, including one from Wokha and one from Kohima, will compete for the trophy, according to LSSA member Moatoshi Longkumer.
The Association further informed that the inaugural program will be graced by Longdiba Sangtam, SDO (Civil), Mokokchung while Shanringain Longkumer, Speaker, NLA will be the special guest in the closing program.
