Suruhuto, March 3 (MTNews): The 14th Sumi Hoho Trophy kick-started at Suruhuto town on 2nd March 2022 with Minister PHED, Jacob Zhimomi, as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Jacob said the Sumi community from all the areas and ranges are participating and added that having both education and sporting ability is a blessing. He urged them to work hard, stay humble and pursue their goals with prayers.
He appealed to the community to preserve their culture and traditions and not forget their mother language. He said Nagaland, being a salary-dependent state, the people should use God-gifted natural resources to generate sustainable income.
Speaking as the host, Advisor, H Khehovi Yeputhomi, thanked the Sumi Games & Sports Association for holding the grand event at Suruhuto. He also thanked the special guest for gracing the occasion and expressed hope that all the guests will have a pleasant stay for the remainder of the event. He encouraged the players to play with true sportsmanship spirit and wished the event a grand success.
The eight-day event, from 2nd to 9th March, is being organized by Sumi Games and Sports Association with Suruhuto Area Sports Association as the host. Players from 20 affiliated units of Sumi Hoho are participating in two disciplines, football for men and volleyball for men and women.
