The 15th General Session of the Chokri Chakhesang Literature Board (CCLB) was held today at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Government High School, Japan Riba, Chozuba, under the theme “Language is the First Identity.” The session culminated with the installation of a new team of office bearers for the 2025–2027 tenure, with Vekhozo Ringa elected as Chairman.
Addressing the gathering as Guest Speaker, former NLA Speaker Dr. Chotisuh Sazo underscored the critical role of family in language preservation. “Language is the real identity of humanity,” he stated, urging families to speak their mother tongue at home as a primary step to preserving cultural identity. Sazo also appealed to participants to ensure accurate documentation during the upcoming Census, expected in 2027, and to register themselves with authenticity.
The theme session featured presentations from Shekholu Tetseo, Research Associate, SCERT Nagaland, on “Promoting Language,” and Zachilhu R. Vadeo, Core Committee Convenor, on “Chokri Language: Developmental Activities.” Dr. Zokho Venuh, Principal of Capital College of Higher Education, Kohima, moderated the session, while Vengotso Khamo recorded the minutes.
Earlier, the inaugural session was led by Nuveta Khusoh, with an invocation by Rev. Vesavo Shijo, Pastor of CVBC. Outgoing Chairman Ariyi Nienu delivered the keynote address. A special folksong by Dr. Sazo and Shetsuyi Ruho enthralled the audience, and a vote of thanks was delivered by CCLB General Secretary (Admn) Vekhozo Ringa.
A quarterly journal in Chokri language titled Chokri Jüye Da, prepared by the CCLB, was officially released by Ariyi Nienu and distributed to all delegates.
The session was attended by approximately 300 registered participants. All expenses were borne by MLA and NPF Legislature Party Leader Kuzholuzo Nienu, to whom the CCLB expressed gratitude.
The new office bearers were blessed by Dutsonyi, Pastor, Dzülhami Baptist Church.
