Mokokchung, 17 September (MTNews): The Mokokchung District Volleyball Association is all set to host the 16th edition of the Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy, which is scheduled to take place from September 19th to September 22nd at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex in Mokokchung.

 

Lakhi Longkumer, the Convener of the Organizing Committee, conveyed through a press statement that the 16th edition will feature 19 teams vying for the coveted trophy. Recognized as one of the most anticipated events in the volleyball community, this year’s champion will be rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 80,000, along with a perpetual trophy and certificates. The first runner-up will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000, along with certificates, while the third and fourth runners-up will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000, respectively. Individual awards will also be presented.

 

Among the participating teams, the newcomers to the tournament include Chienino Brothers from Kiruphema, Archippus Club from Dimapur, United Changki, G-Sports from Mokokchung, Ozümi Volleyball Team from Mongsenbai, and Rongpang Club from Tsürangkong.

 

The inaugural ceremony is scheduled for September 19th, commencing at 10:00 am, with Col. Rahul Gurung, Kirti Chakra, Commandant of the 12 Assam Rifles in Mokokchung, serving as the inaugural patron.

 

The first match of the tournament will feature a face-off between Spartan Club from Lakhuni and Chienino Brothers from Kiruphema, Kohima.
