The knockout stages of the ongoing 17th Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy 2024, organized by the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA), got underway today. The first quarterfinal match of the tournament was played between Eastern Tornado, Tuensang, and Itovi Memorial Club, Dimapur, with the president of Mokokchung Press Club, Limalenden Longkumer, serving as the match patron.
All four matches were tightly contested. By the end of the day’s play, four teams advanced to the semifinals: Itovi Memorial Club, Dimapur; Changtongya Volleyball Association; Ozümi Volleyball Team; and MH-10. The semifinals will begin at 11:00 a.m.
The rising volleyball team from Nagaland, Itovi Memorial Club, Dimapur, defeated Eastern Tornado, Tuensang, in the first quarterfinal, while defending champions Ozümi Volleyball Team defeated former volleyball giants Longsa Sporting Club in the second quarterfinal match.
Changtongya Volleyball Association beat United Changki in the third quarterfinal, and MH-10 Kohima defeated Michazou Mima Kohima in the fourth quarterfinal.
Itovi Memorial Club, Dimapur, will face off against Changtongya Volleyball Association in the first semifinal match, while MH-10 Kohima will square off against Ozümi, who are seeking to lift the trophy for the second consecutive time.
