Mokokchung, March 1 (MTNews): The 1st Khelo India Center Shooting Championship was held at the Ladybird School Shooting Academy from 28th February to 1st March, 2022. The events were live streamed simultaneously from respective Khelo India Centers via Zoom Meeting.

“As part of the Government’s vision to strengthen the sports ecosystem in the country at the grassroots level, a low-cost, effective sports training mechanism has been developed wherein past “Champion Athletes” would become coaches and mentors so that their expertise and experience would be properly utilized for nurturing of athletes at grass-roots level and also to ensure a sustained source of income for them,” stated the Academic In-charge of Ladybird School in a press release.

The Sports Ministry has decided to establish 1000 Khelo India Centres across the country over a period of four years at the district level across the country where Shooting Sport is one among the 14 identified disciplines for excellence in Olympics.

In the State of Nagaland, the Ladybird School Shooting Academy, in Mokokchung District, and Aries Rifle & Pistol Shooting Academy in Dimapur were selected as Khelo India Centres in 2021 by the Sports Authority of India.
