Officials from Department of Power, Nagaland and M/s. Tvaksas Renewable Pvt. Ltd., after signing a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for development of 20 MW Solar Power Plant at Tizit held at Conference Hall, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima on 21st August 2026. (DIPR)

The agreement was signed at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Conference Hall in Kohima in the presence of the Principal Secretary, Power; Chief Engineer (T&G); Chief Engineer (D&R); officers from the Power, Finance, and Law & Justice departments; and representatives of M/s Tvaksas Renewable Pvt. Ltd.

Chief Engineer (T&G), Er. Nitovi A. Wotsa, said the State’s present peak power demand stands at 203 MW and is projected to reach 482 MW by 2034-35. He said the State is planning to enhance its generation capacity to meet the anticipated demand and is encouraging private sector participation alongside projects developed through State resources.

The Principal Secretary, Power, stressed the need to rapidly augment the State’s generation capacity. He noted that solar projects have shorter gestation periods and no mechanical moving parts compared with hydro, wind and thermal generation systems. He said Nagaland’s subtropical location offers reasonably good solar potential, making solar generation suitable for the State.

He urged the developer to complete the project at the earliest and said it would contribute to renewable energy generation and help the State meet its Renewable Consumption Obligations (RCO). He also urged the company to provide employment opportunities to local people during construction and operation.

Directors of Tvaksas Renewable Pvt. Ltd., Bhakti Dave, Hardik Dave and Nayaan Ratandhayara, presented the project implementation plans.

The 20 MW project, proposed at Lapa Lampong village in Tizit, Mon district, will be the fourth private solar initiative in Nagaland.
