Mokokchung, 22 October (MTNews): The 23 Assam Rifles Battalion received the Governor of Nagaland Unit Appreciation while deployed in ‘Operation Orchid’ in Mokokchung from February 2020 to May 2023.

The ceremony, held at Raj Bhawan in Kohima on Saturday, marked a solemn and historic moment when Governor of Nagaland, La Ganesan, presented the ‘Governor Unit Appreciation’ to Col. Viplove and Sub Maj. Anand Singh for the exceptional performance of the Battalion, an update received here said.

“The Unit had ensured proactive domination of the complete area of responsibility spreadover three Districts ie Mokokchung, Longleng and Mon and had conducted numerous successful operations and apprehended 39 Under Ground Cadres/Perpetrators and recovered huge quantity of War like stores during the three years tenure,” the update said.

It was also mentioned that the Battalion carried out its duties without violating human rights and ensured the peaceful conduct of the 14th State Assembly Elections in Nagaland in March 2023.

Not only did the Battalion provide administrative support to the civil administration, but it also established a strong bond with the local population, thereby enhancing the positive image of the Indian Armed Forces, it said.
