Mokokchung, August 13 (MTNews): The 3rd quarterly National Lok Adalat was held at the District Court Complex, Mokokchung on Saturday at 10: 00 AM. It was organized by the Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority under the aegis of Nagaland State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with various banks. A total of 23 pre-litigation money recovery cases were taken up and a total amount of Rs. 18, 90,109.07/- (Rupees Eighteen Lakhs Ninety Thousand One Hundred Nine and Seven Paise) was settled.

 

 

State Bank of India, Mokokchung Branch; State Bank of India, Bazaar Branch; Bank of Baroda; Central Bank; and Indian Bank participated in the Lok Adalat, MDLSA informed in a press release.

 

Lok Adalat is one of the alternate dispute redressal mechanisms wherein disputes are settled or compromised amicably. A decision by Lok Adalat is deemed to be final and binding on all parties and no appeal lies against such an award. The types of cases which can be referred to Lok Adalat include Civil Cases, Matrimonial Cases, MACT cases, Bank default cases and petty criminal cases.
