Kohima, 27 September (MTNews): Ningtingbo struck twice as Liangmai FC defeated KSC Chozuba 2-0 in the first match of the ongoing 23rd NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2023, played at IG Stadium Kohima on Wednesday.
In a much-anticipated match, Liangmai FC from Peren district proved to be too strong for their opponents, scoring twice in each half of the match to advance to the last-16 round.
The match saw Ningtingbo scoring twice in the 26th and 50th minutes for Liangmai FC. Up next, Liangmai FC will play against Tiema Kha Kidima on September 30 in the pre-quarterfinal round.
Viswemi FC secures 5-1 victory over 12 Tribes United
Viswemi FC defeated 12 Tribes United 5-1 in the second match of the day. Despite 12 TribesUnited getting off to a positive start with a goal in the 3rd minute by Pangkhah, they were unable to hold onto the lead. Eight minutes later, Viswemi equalized in the 11th minute through Kevithuto, making it 1-1 by halftime.
In the second half, Viswemi FC significantly improved their performance, scoring four goals. Kelengol, Kelengoto, Tejongol, and Rukuvisal each contributed a goal in the 53rd, 57th, 62nd, and 72nd minutes, securing the match in their favor.
Viswemi FC will face the winner of the Nagaland Two Wheeler Taxi Association or Red Scars FC in the pre-quarterfinal round on October 3.
