Kohima, 6 October (MTNews): Liangmai FC from Peren outclassed End of an Era 6-2 to progress into the semifinal round of the ongoing NSF Martyrs Trophy 2023 here at IG Stadium Kohima on Friday.
Liangmai FC will play against New Market FC in the semifinal round.
End of an Era in the match played without the playmaker Victor Thomson, and right back Sanyem Konyak and stopper Olando who are on state duty for Santosh Trophy. It was a game to forget as they failed to make much impression in the game. The team without many substitution options ran out of gas in the second half which saw their opponent scoring 4 goals.
Despite Nyithong scoring the first goal in the 2nd minute for End of an Era, Kawijibo managed to equalize the score in the 8th minute for Liangmai FC while Lamsanggin doubled the lead in the 39th minute to make it 2-1 in the first half.
While Kawijibo scored two more goals in the second half to complete his hat-trick, Imlong Chaba of End of an Era did score a goal to make it 4-2 in the 77th minute.
Despite a better performance from End of an Era, Ningtingbo and Kenumbi scored a goal each in the last quarter of the match for Liangmai FC to win the match by a big margin.
The man of the match was awarded to Wanamthiu Ringdi and the award was handed over by Ketholekho Kennao, Vice President, KCCI.
