The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) 2025 has urged students from North-East (NE) states to take advantage of the 24,000 seats available across National Institutes of Technology (NITs) in India by registering for JEE Main 2025. In a press conference held at Kohima Press Club on February 11, 2025, CSAB officials highlighted the benefits of reserved seats, dedicated counselling, and career prospects for NE students.

With registration for JEE Main 2025 (Session 2) open until February 24, officials emphasized the presence of nearly 2,000 reserved seats under the State Quota for NIT+ institutions in NE states and 740 additional seats nationwide for NE students through CSAB-NEUT counselling. Despite these opportunities, participation from the region remains below 1% of the total JEE applicants, prompting the CSAB to push for increased awareness.
The press conference was led by Prof Anindya Basu, Chairman, Local Organizing Committee, CSAB 2025, along with Prof Pankaj Kumar Sa (Vice-Chairman), Prof Surajit Das (CSAB 2025 Media Representative), Dr J Arul Valan (Admissions Incharge, CSAB 2025), and Dr Wati Walling (Dean Academic, NIT Nagaland).
CSAB officials stressed that more students from the NE region enrolling in JEE Main would open doors to top-tier technical education, boosting local economies and creating new career pathways.
JEE Main serves as the entrance gateway to India’s premier NIT+ institutions, which include: 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs); 26 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs); 3 Schools of Planning and Architecture (SPAs); 37 Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) and IIEST, Shibpur.
These institutes offer strong industry connections, cutting-edge research opportunities, and promising career prospects in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Robotics, and Core Engineering sectors.
Students who passed Class XII in 2023, 2024, or are appearing in 2025 are eligible to register for JEE Main 2025. The CSAB counselling process provides several advantages like exclusive seat reservations for NE students, multiple admission chances through two CSAB Special Rounds, seamless online counselling with multilingual support, diverse course options in emerging technology fields, enhanced career prospects with placements in PSUs, government agencies, and top tech firms.
With expanding career opportunities in NIT+ institutions, the CSAB 2025 team has urged students from Nagaland and the North-East to seize this opportunity. For registration details and counselling information, students can visit the official JoSAA/CSAB website.
