The 25th Anniversary Edition of the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy, one of Nagaland’s most prestigious football tournaments, is scheduled to commence on September 13, 2025, at 4:30 PM at Indira Gandhi (IG) Stadium, Kohima.
The tournament is jointly organised by the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and Angami Students’ Union (ASU). The opening ceremony will be graced by Metsubo Jamir, Minister, Rural Development & SIRD, Government of Nagaland, as the inaugural guest.
This year’s edition holds special significance as it commemorates 39 years in memory of Lt. Kekuojalie Sachü and Lt. Vikhozo Yhoshü, who tragically lost their lives during a peaceful rally on March 20, 1986, in Kohima.
A total of 45 teams will compete for the championship, including one team each from Delhi and Sikkim, seven from Manipur, and 36 from Nagaland. Former champions such as Tangkhul Katamnao Satlong, Nagaland Police, Red Scars, New Market FC, and Sechü Zubza FC will participate, along with NSL runners-up Nagaland United Sports Club.
Responding to high demand from football fans abroad, the tournament will be live-streamed by IT partners BingeBOXX OTT and Dox Marketing and Media. Coverage will span both IG Stadium, Kohima, and Chümoukedima Football Stadium, allowing fans to follow the action through to the grand finale.
The 25th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy promises to be a thrilling celebration of football, honoring both sport and the memory of Nagaland’s martyrs.
