Mokokchung, 11 July (MTNews): The 3rd 27 Mokokchung Town Assembly Constituency (NDPP) Youth Organization Football Tournament began today at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung with the President of NDPP Mokokchung Region, Mayangnungba, as the guest of honor and opening Match Patron.

Prior to kicking off the tournament, Mayangnungba in his inaugural speech lauded the 27 A/C NDPP Youth Organization for their initiative in organizing the football tournament for the 3rd consecutive term to foster fraternity and unity through football.

 

The guest of honor also encouraged the participants in the tournament to take the platform offered through the tournament as an opportunity to pursue the game professionally. He also added that being engaged in games and sports is healthy for the body and mind of a person.

 

Short speeches were also delivered by Bendang Walling, Working President of NDPP Mokokchung Region Youth Organization; Tia Longkumer, 27 A/C NDPP President; and Meyila, 27 A/C NDPP Women Organization, President.

 

While delivering the welcome address, the President of the 27 A/C NDPP Youth Organization, Imliyanger thanked the proprietor and Managing Director of Nagaland Minerals & Mines, Moatemjen for his assistance in organizing the tournament.

 

The inaugural function was chaired by Joint secretary 27 A/C Youth organization, Limasashi while the invocation was pronounced by Associate Pastor Youth Ministry, KBA, Imnakumzuk Jamir.

 

A total of 6 teams are participating in the tournament. The championship prize is Rs 30,000 and the runner up Rs 20,000. Individual awards for Top Scorer, Best Goalkeeper, Most Promising Player, and Player of the Tournament will also be given away along with certificates and cash prizes.

 

In the inaugural match of the tournament, the 27 AC NDPP Youth Organization defeated Aongza Unit by 2 goals to 1 while Mongsenbai Unit defeated Kumlong Unit with the score line 3-1 in the second match of the day. In the third match, Kichutip Unit registered a convincing victory over 27 AC NDPP Youth Organization by 5 goals to 1.
