The second edition of the Kohima District Inter High School Basketball Tournament, organised by the Kohima District Basketball Association (KDBA), began on Thursday at 13 Assam Rifles, D Block, Kohima.

Director of Economics & Statistics, Government of Nagaland, Neidilhou Keditsu, attended the inaugural session as the chief guest. He appreciated the KDBA for organising the tournament and encouraged the participating teams to maintain team spirit while wishing them success in the competition.
KDBA president Khrielasakuo Keretsü told the players that basketball was not only about winning but also taught discipline, teamwork, perseverance, respect and sportsmanship. He encouraged them to compete with determination, support their teammates, respect their opponents and enjoy the game.
Keretsü said the association has 14 members committed to providing opportunities for young people to develop their talents through basketball.
A total of 28 teams, comprising 19 boys’ and nine girls’ teams from schools across Kohima district, are participating in the three-day tournament, which will conclude on October 3.
Rev. Fr. Innocent, SDB, pronounced the invocation, while Virienuo Sekhose presented a special number. KDBA vice president (Technical) Jordan Mekro administered the oath to the participating teams.
Hundreds of students, teachers, school administrators, principals and basketball enthusiasts attended the opening day.
