Mokokchung, November 3 (MTNews): The second day celebration received a total of 2961 officially registered participants. The ABAM SQC 150 Album was released on the 2nd Day of the celebration by Rev. C. Walu Walling, former Secretary, Literature and Education, ABAM. The second day celebration concluded with the screening of a powerful pageant-montage documentary produced by the Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo.
Two main speakers of the day
Speaking on the theme “To God be the Glory” (Galatians 1:5), the main speaker of the morning worship, Rev. Watson Rajaratnam, underscored the point that “the glory God has given us is to empower others. Blessing us is to bless others.” Drawing on the example of king Nebuchadnezzar, he cautioned the gathering that “when we serve in glory there is always a temptation to grab the glory for ourselves. We are the works of His hand and like Nebuchadnezzar, there is a consequence when human beings steal God’s glory in the wrong way.”
In the sermon delivered by Rev. Prof. Dr. Limatula Longkümer Registrar, Senate of Serampore College (University) on the theme “His steadfast love endures forever” (Psalms 100:5), she expounded the theme by noting that “God is a loving God and not a punishing God and we are to do the same.” She also stressed the fact that God’s love is everlasting and he desires a life of repentance and forgiveness from his followers. The speaker expressed her concern by noting that many of the churches in the North east are exclusive and are not able to practice community spirit (ekklesia) and fellowship.
Greetings from Church leaders
While bringing greetings to the SQC participants, Rev. O. Alem, former Executive Secretary, ABAM, shared that the celebration is an affirmation of the “good relationship that exists between God and human beings, and between believers”.
Rev. Tugaso Manyu, General Secretary, brought greetings on behalf of the Arunachal Baptist Church Council. He encouraged ABAM “to explore new ways of doing ministry in Arunachal Pradesh and not to remain complacent for what has been achieved so far.”
Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, General Secretary, NBCC, began his Jubilee by addressing Impur as “the Jerusalem of the Nagas.” He reminded the gathering that “accepting Christ 150 years ago is a story of courage and determination. We remember the persecution and sufferings for those who stood their ground becoming a part of our story.”
