Following the protest by the students, the Directorate of Higher Education, Nagaland, has released the second and final phase of payment for the Post-Matric Scholarship to Scheduled Tribe (ST) students of Nagaland for the academic year 2024–2025.
According to the Directorate, payment has been processed for 19,381 beneficiaries on November 11, marking a one-time full and final payment for the current academic session.
Students whose names appear on the second-phase beneficiary list but have not received their scholarships have been advised to ensure Aadhaar linkage with their bank accounts to enable Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The list of beneficiaries whose bank accounts are not DBT-enabled is available on the Directorate’s website https://highereducation.nagaland.gov.in.
The Post-Matric Scholarship is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (90:10) jointly supported by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, and the State Government of Nagaland. The Directorate stated that the State releases its share promptly upon receipt of the Central Government’s contribution, enabling the department to initiate payments once funds are released by the designated funding agencies.
As per official data, 22,412 students received payment under the first phase in June 2025, amounting to Rs 3,071.49 lakh. The second phase, disbursed on November 11, covers 19,381 students with a total of Rs 2,566.57 lakh. In total, 41,793 beneficiaries have received Rs 5,638.06 lakh under the Post-Matric Scholarship scheme for the year 2024–25.
