Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi in collaboration with Hill Theatre and Department of Art & Culture, Mokokchung, Government of Nagaland is organizing a 30-day production oriented theatre workshop in Mokokchung, Nagaland which got underway today.

 

Sentilong Ozukum, SDO (Civil), Mokokchung, who was the guest of honour at the inaugural program, emphasized that art is something unique that we produce, treasure, and value. “People who work in this industry regard art as a god and adore it,” he said. According to him, the 30-day workshop will be a time of regeneration and will be similar to a pilgrimage, a spiritual trip in which participants will learn a great deal. He also expressed gratitude to the resource persons for coming to Mokokchung and making sacrifices.

 

One of the resource persons, Pabitra Rabha, spoke on the occasion and stated that the workshop will be an opportunity to learn new things and meet new people. He stated that continuing a path in the realm of art and theatre is challenging, and that the participants will become a part of the adventure for the 30 days.

 

He went on to say that in the next days, the participants would strive to figure out what makes them attractive in front of the camera, in front of an audience, and as performers, and that they will go through a variety of exercises to truly understand what makes each of them beautiful.

 

Monglier, Asso. Pastor, MTBA, before reciting a prayer remarked that he hopes the theatre workshop would serve the people of the community via their contributions and yield fruits from the youthful talents.

 

The resource persons at the workshop are Bendang Walling, Alumni NSD, New Delhi, theatre practitioner and actor; Jadumani Singh, Director of Blooming Cultural Academy, performing arts and award winning theatre practitioner; Thoudam Victor Singh, Alumni NSD, New Delhi; Charles Wallace, student, London School of Performing Arts; Kilangtemsu Imsong, Alumni, NSD (TIE) Tripura, theatre practitioner and actor; and Pabitra Rabha, Alumni NSD, New Delhi, Theatre Director and Bollywood actor.

 

The 30-day theatrical workshop will cover the production process and improvisation, physical theatre, prop creation, make-up and theatre music, participatory theatre and role play, realistic acting, a glimpse of theatre directing, management, and set design.

 

The workshop is currently going on at the Art and Culture Office, Ungma, Mokokchung with 26 participants.
