The 31st edition of the Kongrokong Youth Perfect Poll & Musical Night was celebrated on January 2 at ISBT, Khensa Village, near Mokokchung town. The event, held annually, featured a vibrant lineup of activities and performances, drawing attendees from far and near.
The second session of the program was graced by Sangyumongba Kichu, Councillor-elect of Yimyu Ward, Mokokchung Town. In his address, Kichu commended the Kongrokong Youth for their dedication in organizing the event and emphasized the importance of nurturing young talents. He urged the organizers to elevate the event to a district-level platform, encouraging sincerity and hard work to ensure its lasting impact. Kichu stressed the need for follow-through and sustained efforts to maximize the event’s potential.
Moayanger, President of Kongrokong Youth, welcomed the gathering and expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event. He acknowledged the efforts of the committee members, who played a pivotal role in enhancing the Perfect Poll initiative through their financial, physical, and intellectual contributions. Moayanger also thanked the guest artists and performers for their participation.
A highlight of the night was the crowning of Walumeren and Tiasangla as Mr Perfect and Ms Perfect for the 31st edition. The selection was based on secret polls conducted during the youth fest day on December 31, honoring individuals for their exceptional contributions and talents.
Waisangba, Chairman of Kongrokong Colony, delivered an exhortation emphasizing the importance of education and community involvement. He encouraged the colony members to embrace the New Year with patience, endurance, and understanding. Acknowledging the unique challenges of being part of both Yimyu Ward and Khensa Village, he expressed gratitude for the community’s support and prayers.
The second session, titled “Extravaganza,” showcased captivating performances by Lenen Jamir, Adang and Friends, Temsu Tzüdir, Stupid Longkumer, Meyipshishi II, Tiatemsu, Liomeren, Putunaro, Longtsadi, Sano Pangersenla, Opangsenla, Moarenba, Arizongla, Nochet, and Moaonen and various other local artists.
Hosted by Nokchanaro, the performances fostered community bonding and celebrated local talent.
The evening began with a solemn first session anchored by Katikokla, including an invocation by Nukshiyangla, a Bible reading by Elongshi, and a benediction by Longriyangdang. Convenor Temsulong highlighted the event’s purpose to recognize outstanding youth achievements, reinforcing the event’s role in celebrating and empowering the community.
