It was an eventful day on Saturday as Gameweek 13 of the 35+ Mokokchung Football League 2024 unfolded at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung. Second-placed Wasang FC continued their poor form for the second consecutive week, suffering a decisive loss, while Revenant FC secured a crucial win to extend their lead at the top of the table. Another significant result was Senso FC’s 13th consecutive loss of the season, during which Thoudam Johney became the first player this season to be shown a red card.
The first match of the day was between Terokroker FC and Wasang FC. Just one point behind table-toppers Revenant FC, Wasang FC needed a win to keep their maiden title hopes alive, but Terokroker FC had other ideas. Imliyapang scored a brace in the first half, while Akangshilu added another in the second half, handing Wasang FC a bitter 0-3 defeat. With these two goals, Imliyapang extended his tally to 17 goals this season. Moatemsu Jamir of New Ecclesia FC and Rongsenchiba of Revenant FC follow Imliyapang on the leading goal scorers list with 13 and 9 goals, respectively.
With the loss, Wasang FC still remains in second place but is now 4 points behind leaders Revenant FC, who secured a crucial win over Trebuchet FC. Rongsenchiba once again came to the rescue for Revenant FC, finding the back of the net in the 25th minute of the game.
In the third match of the day, Senso FC suffered yet another timid loss as Moatemsu Jamir of New Ecclesia FC hammered a hat-trick. Thoudam Johney of Senso FC was shown a red card, while Sentiyangba of New Ecclesia FC was also cautioned. Imkongneken Jamir scored a consolation goal for Senso FC, but his heroics proved inconsequential as his team has yet to secure a single point this season.
