Kohima, October 4 (MTNews): A total of 35 teams are set to compete in the prestigious 22nd NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy which is scheduled to start from October 7th at IG Stadium, Kohima. This address was announced by the organising committee’s convenor Zekuseto Natso on Tuesday during a press conference held in Kohima. Apart from local teams, Shillong Lajong FC and two teams from Manipur have confirmed their participation in the tournament this year.

 

 

 

The annual tournament is organized by the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) under the theme ‘Goal for Peace’.
The major football tournament is being held in honour and remembrance of the two fallen comrades, late Kekuojalie Sachü and late Vikhozo Yhoshü, who gave their lives in 1986 in response to the Naga Students’ Federation’s call to duty for the people.

 

Kuzholuzo Neinu, MLA and the leader of the NPF legislative party, will attend the inaugural ceremony as Inaugural guest on October 7 at IG Stadium from at 4:30 PM.

 

The champions will walk away with a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakhs and the runners up with 1.20 lakhs. The losing semi finalists will receive Rs 30,000 each and the losing quarter finalist with 15,000 each.
The individual awards include player of the tournament, best goalkeeper, best defender, best midfielder, and highest scorer.
