District Administration & District Level Centre for Women in collaboration with Department of Sociology, Jubilee Memorial College, also celebrated International Women’s Day at the college premises.
Guest speaker, Toshi Sanglir, ABAM Youth Secretary, during his speech highlighted the importance a woman while taking on the example of his mother. “She taught me to respect everyone,” he added. “Women are seen as cultural refugees taking the identity of fathers and husbands; I will unchain myself and interrupt the chain of cultural bias,” he said.
An Inter-College Prepared Speech Competition was held on the occasion with 8 participants from three colleges, namely Jubilee Memorial College (JMC), Fazl Ali College (FAC) and People’s College (PC).
Kushe Shiu from FAC was declared the winner while Imolemla from FAC and Sashimenla Imchen from JMC bagged the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Dr.Imliwati, Principal, JMC during the welcome address highlighted that the day was celebrated to acknowledge half the humanity.
