Kupza, 19 January (MTNews): The 39th general conference of the Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (OKM) concluded on the evening of 19th January at Küpza village, under the theme ‘Liberated Education,’ with MLA and Advisor for Minority Affairs & Sericulture, Nagaland, Imkongmar, as the guest of honor during the valedictory session.
During the valedictory session of the 39th general conference, the Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang also adopted resolutions and nominated a new team of office bearers and an executive council to lead the organization.
The conference resolved to adopt the “OKM Mission Vision 2045,” a 20-year initiative aimed at supporting brilliant students from economically weaker sections of society. The initiative is set to commence in 2025, with the year 2024 serving as the preparatory year. To activate this initiative, every student from Ongpangkong who has reached the age of 18 shall contribute a one-day-wage sum towards the “seed money” for the stated initiative.
In an effort to preserve Ao identity and language, and in support of Ao Senden and Ao Riju, OKM will strive to have the Ao language recognized under the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. In this regard, the conference resolves to continue and further pursue the ongoing OKM Mother Language Preservation Program. The next general conference of OKM is scheduled to take place in 2026 at Longsa village.Newly appointed officials of OKM are as follows:
