The 3rd Nerhema Organic Day-cum-Khuvie Nyi 2026 was held at the Multipurpose Hall, Chiephobozou Town, with Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman of the Nagaland Khadi and Village Industries Board (NKVIB), Dr Neiphrezo Keditsu, as the special guest.
The annual event promoted organic farming and locally cultivated Khuvie (chives), featuring a formal programme and stalls displaying agricultural and organic produce from local farmers and producers.
Addressing the gathering, Keditsu stressed the importance of preserving traditional farming practices while adopting sustainable and organic methods. He said organic farming could help maintain soil health, protect the environment, produce healthier food and improve farmers’ livelihoods.
He encouraged farmers and producers to focus on value addition, packaging, branding and marketing of local products, saying these could generate sustainable income when connected to wider markets.
Keditsu also urged youth to view agriculture as an avenue for entrepreneurship and innovation rather than relying solely on government employment. He called for greater use of government schemes supporting agriculture, village industries and rural enterprises.
The event was first organised in 2024 to promote organic farming and create market opportunities for Khuvie and other local agricultural products.
