The 3rd TM Wati Open Volleyball Trophy 2024 organised by the Rising Star Sporting Club,Mokokchung Village commenced today at Jungli Arjuma, Mokokchung Village with N Bendang Jamir, working president, NDPP, Nagaland as the guest of honour.
A total of 7 teams from across Mokokchung district are participating in the 3-day tournament, scheduled to be held from 16 to 18 December 2024.
The champions will receive a cash prize of Rs 80,000, while the runners-up will be awarded Rs 40,000. The two semi-finalists will each receive Rs 5,000. Additionally, individual prizes include Rs 4,000 for the Player of the Tournament, and Rs 3,000 each for the Best Setter and Best Spiker.
The guest of honour N Bendang Jamir in his speech talked about how,who and when volleyball was recognised and started. He also emphasized that the key to being a successful player is discipline, no matter the type of game.
In his concluding remarks, he encouraged the players to play with discipline, respect each other, and show respect towards their seniors.
Kumlong Sporting Association, Young Spikers, Kijong Lanu, and Evergreen Club Ungma in Pool-A and Shipu (A), Shipu (B), and Sporting Club Koralong in Pool-B are the seven teams participating in the tournament.
