Nagaland University has recorded a total of 40 qualifiers in national-level competitive examinations, including the UGC-NET December 2025 cycle, ICAR NET (ARS), and the CSIR-NET December 2025 examination, conducted by the National Testing Agency and other bodies.

The UGC-NET results, held in early 2026, were declared on February 8, 2026, while the CSIR-NET, conducted on December 18, 2025, had its results declared on February 23, 2026. The ICAR NET (ARS) also contributed significantly, particularly in agricultural sciences. The two candidates who qualified in ICAR NET (ARS) are eligible to appear for the ARS Main Examination, followed by a viva voce stage, as per Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board norms.

The 40 qualifiers fall into three categories. Six candidates qualified for the Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professorship from the departments of Chemistry, Economics, Political Science, English, and Livestock Production and Management.

Eighteen candidates qualified for Assistant Professorship and PhD admission, with a strong presence from Education (6) and English (4), along with representation from Chemistry, Economics, Commerce, CNTLS, Management, and Rural Development. Sixteen candidates qualified for PhD admission, led by English (7), followed by Geology, Economics, Geography, CNTLS, Education, and Rural Development.

The Department of English, with 12 qualifiers, topped the list, followed by Education (8) and Economics (5), reflecting broad representation across disciplines.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. JK Patnaik termed the achievement a testament to the university’s commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and quality higher education, and commended the students and faculty.
