The 4th edition of the Melityongpang Badminton Tournament concluded today at Marepkong Ward, with active participation from players and spectators alike. The tournament, held from December 17 to 19, featured two categories—Junior and Senior—and aimed to foster a spirit of sportsmanship among budding badminton players.

In the Junior category, the team “Stoners” emerged as champions, while “Double Troubles” secured the runners-up position. In the Senior category, the “A and K” team claimed the title, with “Chomp and Stomp” finishing as runners-up. The winners and runners-up in the Junior category received Rs 4,000 and Rs 3,000, respectively, while the Senior category winners took home `6,000, and the runners-up were awarded Rs 4,000.

Individual honors were also awarded to outstanding players. Imlikumla was named Player of the Tournament and received Rs 1,000, while the Most Promising Player award went to Tiatemjen from the Junior category, who was also rewarded with Rs 1,000.

The tournament, made possible through contributions from Marepkong Ward residents, reflected the community’s dedication to nurturing young talent in badminton. The event, now in its fourth edition, brought together children, parents, and players, fostering a spirit of unity and encouragement.

The tournament concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Taliangshi, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers, participants, and the community for making the event a success. The organizers expressed hope that the tournament would continue to grow and inspire more young talents in the years to come.

On December 17, the event was inaugurated by Repanungla Longkumtsur, MMC Councilor of Marepkong Ward, who graced the occasion with her presence and words of encouragement.

Additionally, the Marepkong Ward Council delivered a brief exhortation during the inaugural program.
