Kohima, November 6 (MTNews): The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) will be conducting the 4th Quarterly National Lok Adalat (People’s Courts) sittings in all the district headquarters on November 12, the second Saturday of the month. This will be the 4th Quarterly National Lok Adalat and the final NLA to be held in 2022-2023.

 

A total of 12 Lok Adalat Benches at present District Court premises and High Court Legal Services Committee (HCLSC) will be set up by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSAs) and HCLSA.

 

LokAdalat is one of the alternative dispute redressal mechanisms, and a forum where cases pending in the court of law or at pre-litigation stage are settled or compromised speedily and amicably. NLA is held on a quarterly basis and has benefited the citizens with the privilege of settling disputes at free of cost all across the State.

 

The NSLSA has in a press release informed that persons having dispute/ cases (pre-litigation and pending) on civil, matrimonial, MACT and petty offence cases can come forward on the day or submit their disputes before the date at DLSA front offices, District Court building and NSLSA member Secretary Office, DC Office Compound or contact 0370-2290153 or email at nslsa.nagaland@gov.in.

 

The disposal data of each DLSA will be further uploaded on the web portal of the State Authority at nslsa.nagalandgov.in.

 

During the 3rd Quarterly National Lok Adalat DLSAs on August 13, a total of 230 cases and disputes with a total settlement amount of Rs. 4,29,66,737 were disposed off out of 787 cases/ disputes which were listed for compromise settlement including cases in pending stage as well as in pre-litigation stage mostly in the category of bank Recovery, Criminal Compoundable cases & Motor Accident Cases Tribunal (MACT) and other cases viz. public utility i.e Telephone Bills.
