4th Winter Carnival 2023 begins in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, 18 December (MTNews): Mokokchung town has come alive with the joyous sounds of laughter and music as the 4th Winter Carnival officially began on 18 December 2023.

Organized by the Adventure and Motorsports Association Mokokchung (AMAM), the five-day event promises to inject a much-needed burst of festivity into the cold winter nights and bring the community together.

The main motive behind this Carnival is to bring about an air of festivity to this sleepy town, shared Moasashi Jamir, President of AMAM, in his welcome speech. He hopes to entice people out of their cozy homes and fireplaces to explore the diverse offerings of over 100 stalls featuring games, delectable food, and unique items. A dedicated kids’ play zone ensures family fun for everyone, while the stalls themselves are largely manned by enthusiastic youths, fostering a sense of “dignity of labor” and entrepreneurial spirit.

Col Rahul Gurung, Commandant of 12th Assam Rifles, graced the inaugural ceremony as the patron and delivered an inspiring message to the participating youths. He emphasized their vital role in nation-building and expressed his hope to see Mokokchung’s youth excel in various fields, from renowned sportspersons and doctors to engineers and entrepreneurs.

The inaugural evening was further enlivened by the performance of the Hailinator band and a special pipe band display by the 12th Assam Rifles, which was followed by inauguration of stalls by the patron.

As the carnival unfolds over the next four days, visitors can look forward to indulging in delicious local delicacies, testing their skills at exciting games, browsing through handcrafted souvenirs, and soaking in the warm and vibrant atmosphere. Live music performances and engaging activities promise to keep everyone entertained throughout the event.
