The 5 Tribes Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP) has issued a fresh statement expressing “deep concern over the continued inaction of the State Government” despite the State Cabinet’s earlier decision to set up a Commission to review Nagaland’s current Reservation Policy.
In a press release issued from its camp office in Dimapur on June 30, the Committee acknowledged the State Government’s announcement to constitute a Commission but lamented the absence of any official response to its “two core demands.”
“The State Government is yet to respond to our two core demands, i.e., either to scrap the existing Reservation Policy or to allocate the unreserved quota to the five tribes,” the Committee stated. It also pointed out that these demands were “clearly and firmly conveyed to the State Government” during a meeting held on June 3, 2025. “Unfortunately, there has been no substantive progress or official communication in this regard,” it added.
Raising concerns over the proposed composition of the Commission, the Committee asserted that civil society organizations (CSOs) must be excluded from its membership. “This is essential to uphold the neutrality, fairness and integrity of the Commission’s work and to prevent any conflict of interest or undue influence,” it stated.
Calling for decisive and transparent action, the Committee said it remains “committed to constructive engagement but reserves the right to initiate appropriate democratic measures if the issues remain unaddressed within a reasonable timeframe.”
