The Skill Development Committee (SDC) of Dimapur Government College successfully organized a Certificate Distribution Program for the two-month Beauty and Wellness Course on October 28, 2025. The course was funded by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland, under its initiative to promote vocational learning and employability among students.

Hukali Avito Swu, Educator of the Beautician Crash Course, congratulated the students on successfully completing the course and highlighted the importance of self-employment and practical skill training in today’s competitive world. Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Likusa, BA 1st Semester, English Honors, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the college administration and the educator for their invaluable guidance. She described the course as a transformative experience that had been both educational and empowering.

Dr Maongkala Longchar, Associate Professor, Department of English and Convenor of the Skill Development Committee, delivered the keynote address reflecting on the success of the program. She extended gratitude to the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland, for its continued support in promoting skill enhancement programs.

She emphasised the importance of integrating beauty and wellness practices with emotional and mental well-being, noting that techniques such as skincare, body relaxation, and mindfulness not only enhance physical appearance but also contribute to mental health, stress reduction, and self-expression. Dr Longchar further underscored the growing opportunities in the beauty and wellness industry, encouraging students to apply their newly acquired skills toward meaningful employment and entrepreneurship.

Certificates were awarded to 50 trainees who successfully completed the course, fulfilling one of the key objectives of the college – to equip every graduate with a vocational or skill-based certification alongside academic qualifications.

The Chairperson, Dr G Phukato Sema, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, in his closing remarks, encouraged the trainees to value their certificates as tangible evidence of their capabilities and as a foundation for future professional growth.
