The stage is set for the 52nd Sports Meet of the Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA), hosted by Thenyizu Village, scheduled to begin on January 7, 2025, at the Local Ground, Thenyizu Village.
The event will run until January 11, with the participation of ten villages/units under CAGSA.
Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Government of Nagaland, Kudecho Khamo, will grace the opening ceremony as the guest speaker at 10 a.m. Khamo will unfurl the Association Flag, followed by the lighting of the Tournament Torch.
Dozhohu Tunyi, President of Chakhesang Hoho Kohima, will serve as the guest of honor for the closing ceremony.
During the opening ceremony, Vesezo Ringa, Advisor of CAGSA, will lead the program, while Thepuzhoyi Theyo, Senior Pastor of Thenyizu Baptist Church, will offer the invocation prayer.
The presidential address will be delivered by Sekho Dawhuo, President of CAGSA, and greetings will be shared by Vivolie Kezo, President of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA). A special song will be performed by Hoto Band, and the oath-taking ceremony will be administered by Besuhtsoyi Vero, Games and Sports Secretary of CAGSA.
The week-long sporting event will feature the following competitions:
Track Events (Men and Women): 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, 10,000m, 4x100m Relay, and 4x400m Mixed Relay.
Field Events (Men and Women): Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Discus Throw, and Javelin Throw.
Other Events: Arm Wrestling (Men and Women) and team sports, including Football, Volleyball, and Basketball.
It may be mentioned that the Thenyizumi Students’ Union (TSU) hosted an event, “Moonlight Melodies in the Woods,” on Monday evening. Kelulu Dawhuo, Miss Nagaland 2nd Runner-up, Miss Multimedia, and Miss Beautiful Smile 2024, hosted the evening. The event featured performances by Thupusalu Shijoh, Zacukho Tetseo, Vekrelu Chuzho, Sekhozo Medeo, Sulu Nyekha, Melutolu Thisa, Yotolu Swuro, and Thepuyho Thisa.
