Power supply to Tuli Sub-Division, Longleng, and Mon district has been disrupted following the collapse of a 66kV transmission tower in Yisemyong area, Mokokchung.

According to the Transmission Division, Mokokchung, the incident occurred around 5:00 AM on Friday, August 8. The fault was identified after intensive line patrolling throughout the day and was finally located at approximately 4:00 PM. Preliminary findings attribute the collapse to massive landslides in the area.
The department informed that necessary arrangements are being made to assess and restore the damaged infrastructure at the earliest.
Speaking to MT, Executive Engineer of the Mokokchung Transmission Division, Er Hekaito Assumi said,”We are trying to make a 4-pole SP 65 structure by tomorrow morning or try to bypass the damaged tower and string it if we get necessary clearance and support from the existing adjacent towers.” He added that all available resources are being mobilized to ensure a temporary restoration as quickly as possible.
“We urge our esteemed consumers in Tuli Sub-Division, Longleng and Mon district to kindly bear with the inconvenience as we make our best efforts in resolving the issue at the earliest,” he further stated.
“Given the severity of the situation, restoring power in a matter of days is unrealistic. However a makeshift arrangement is reportedly being explored to potentially expedite power supply,” added EE Temjensangba of the Changtongya Division.
Efforts are ongoing to restore power supply to the affected areas, though the department has not yet provided a timeline for full restoration.
