The 6th Dimapur District Inter-Departmental Sports Meet commenced at the Multi-Disciplinary State Stadium, ADC Court, Dimapur, on 20th November 2024. The opening ceremony featured Col. Ullas Badoni, Commandant of the 43 Assam Rifles, as the Guest of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, Col. Ullas Badoni praised the participants’ enthusiasm and the vibrant atmosphere created by the various departmental teams. He acknowledged the dedication shown by the employees and commended the organizers for promoting a healthy balance between work and recreation. He emphasized that sports play a crucial role in fostering team spirit and mental well-being. Such events, he noted, provide physical benefits, relieve stress, and enhance productivity.
Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, extended a warm welcome to the participants and highlighted the importance of bringing employees together to build stronger bonds across departments. He stressed that the sports meet provides a platform for interaction and teamwork often missing in routine office schedules. Dr. Chang also announced a mass social work initiative scheduled for 22nd November, urging departments to actively participate in cleaning highways and public spaces.
The sports meet will feature various games, including table tennis, football penalty shootouts, tug of war, badminton, and carrom for both men and women, fostering friendly competition and teamwork. The event is set to conclude on 22nd November with a prize distribution ceremony. This three-day initiative aims to promote camaraderie, fitness, and interaction among government employees, bringing together participants from multiple departments.
