The 6th N.I. Jamir Memorial Nagaland Open Basketball Tournament wrapped up with thrilling finals in both the men’s and women’s brackets at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung. In the women’s championship, Team Intermingle outplayed the All Blacks in a high-intensity showdown, clinching the win with a 48-37 scoreline. On the men’s side, the Kohima Highlanders emerged victorious against The Mystic Ballers (TMB) in a nail-biting contest, securing their win in the final moments with a 92-88 score.
The 3-day tournament was organized by the Intermingle Club, Mokokchung under the aegis of the Mokokchung District Basketball Association and the Nagaland Basketball Association.
The tournament also recognized individual excellence, awarding the MVP (Most Valuable Player) honors. Sentiyala from Team Intermingle was named the MVP for the women’s category, while Keneitseizo Belho of Kohima Highlanders took home the men’s MVP title. Both received certificates and a cash prize of 10,000 rupees each.
In addition to their titles, the winners in both the men’s and women’s categories were awarded a cash prize of 1 lakh rupees, while the runners-up took home 50,000 rupees each.
Before the finals, a short closing program was held, chaired by Nungshisenla. The program featured a vote of thanks by Jamonger, a special musical performance by Imkumnaro, and a speech by the special guest Imliyanger.
