He lamented that fraud exists at all levels in Naga society, starting from the individual level to the highest office, while citing that “even placing a proxy teacher itself denotes corruption.”
He asserted that “divide and rule policy sown by the British have been thoroughly absorbed in our society which is creating isms and putting unity out of context.” This, he said, is impeding the true meaning of unity.

The former Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly also stressed that “we analyze how far the clean election campaign has been effective” and underscored that this campaign should give more focus on the grassroots level. He also asked the people to own up responsibility to bring overall positive change during the electioneering process.

He appealed to the delegates to do better than their predecessors so that the next generation would not face a bitter situation because of self-interest and divisions. Besides, he also challenged the house to hammer out all the differences they might have and start afresh to uplift society. While remembering the ‘Golden Days’ of the Asetkong people, when elders would frequently meet and discuss about development of the range, he persuaded the delegates to think and share plans for the betterment of society and in taking Asetkong forward.

Earlier, Lanulemba, President, Asetkong Students Conference, also spoke on preserving mother language and emphasized on students’ welfare, while Limawati Longchar, Retired Director of IPR, Nagaland, was the theme speaker in the inaugural program.
