The 70th Tatar Hoho of the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) was held in Kohima on January 29, 2026, during which key leadership positions were filled and a warning was issued against extortion carried out in the name of the NNC/FGN.

According to a statement issued following the meeting, the Tatar Hoho unanimously re-elected K Vadeo and Haingau Zeliang as Kedahge and Kedallo respectively for the 2026–2030 tenure.

The meeting also elected former Deputy Speaker H K Zeliang as Speaker for the same tenure.

In addition, the Tatar Hoho filled vacancies within the body, with the statement noting that the list of newly inducted members would be prepared and released separately.

The meeting also took note of what it described as misuse of the NNC/FGN name for unlawful activities. The statement said it had come to the notice of the authorities that “there are some miscreants who take the name of NNC/FGN and indulging in extortion and tax collection activities.”

Issuing a warning, the statement said the meeting “strongly warn those people who tarnish the fair name of NNC/FGN for their selfish end,” adding that the organisation “will not tolerate such unwarranted activities” and would “take disciplinary action in extreme term.”

The statement further said that “going against the people in the name of ‘fighting for freedom’ has no meaning.”

The statement was dated January 30, 2026, and signed by H K Zeliang, former Deputy Speaker.
