Ludhiana, 5 December (MTNews): The 73rd Senior National Basketball Championship continued to deliver riveting action on its third day at Ludhiana, Punjab, showcasing electrifying matchups and stellar performances from competing teams.

In a nail-biting encounter between Nagaland and Himachal Pradesh, the Nagaland men’s team faced a narrow defeat with a final score of 76-69 in favor of Himachal Pradesh. Thejagulie Mekro showcased exceptional skill, leading the Nagaland charge with an impressive 26 points, supported by Kevin with 16 points and Ongnetchanger contributing 15 points. Despite briefly holding a lead during the final quarter, Nagaland couldn’t maintain the advantage against a resilient Himachal Pradesh squad.

The women’s fixture saw Nagaland’s team succumb to a dominant Rajasthan side, with a final score of 35-85. Kenyuni and Reena Rai managed 9 points each, while Ravulo contributed 5 points. Rajasthan’s Captain Kamleshpara led her team’s charge with a commanding 27 points, backed by Diksha’s 10 points.

In their second men’s match, Nagaland faced a tough challenge against Andhra Pradesh, ending with a score of 78-93 in favor of Andhra Pradesh. Thejangulie Mekro contributed 23 points, while Salew Kadete added 13 points for Nagaland.

The tournament’s excitement continues tomorrow with Nagaland’s women facing off against Gujarat at 9:30 am on Court 2, followed by the men’s team battling Chhattisgarh at 1:30 pm on Court 4.
