The 79th General Conference of the Chakhesang Students Union (CSU) will be held from February 3 to 5, 2026, at the Local Ground, Zuketsa, under the theme “Nurturing Identity through Knowledge and Culture.” The conference, hosted by the Zuketsa Students Union (ZSU), will bring together delegates from across the region to discuss key issues, share knowledge, and celebrate cultural heritage.
Key dignitaries attending include Neiba Kronu, former Minister, as Introductory Guest; T.R. Zeliang, Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Planning and Transformation and National Highways, as Inaugural Guest; Kudecho Khamo, Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, as Guest of Honor; L. Dikho, MLA of the 48th Mao Assembly Constituency, Manipur, as Cultural Guest; and Zhothisa Dawhuo, Secretary, Women Resources Development, as Valedictory Guest. Dr. Neisatuo Mero, MLA of the 16th Pfutsero Assembly Constituency, will be Special Guest of the 67th Zuketsa Students Union.
The conference programme includes panel discussions, seminars, and cultural programmes. Panelists for “Indo-Naga Political Talks: The Vision and Its Prospects” include Lt. Col. (Retd.) Neipfupe (Ape) Venuh, Alezo Venuh, and Acüyi Vadeo, with Dr. Neingulo Krome as moderator. Sessions on entrepreneurship and competitive exams will be led by Neichute Doulo, CEO of Entrepreneurs Associates, and Vekhohu Puro, EAC, Peren Headquarters.
Cultural competitions will feature Sumi folk dance, folk song (quartet), and other traditional performances. The Lt. Goyiepra Kenye Meritorious Award will be presented to outstanding students.
Greetings and solidarity messages will be delivered by student leaders including Gihuka Zhimo, President of the All Sumi Students Union; Mteisuding Heraang, President of the Naga Students’ Federation; Pfokrehrii Matekho Pekosii, President of the Mao Students Union; and Donald V. Thabah, General Secretary of the Khasi Students Union. Vezuhu Keyho, President of the Chakhesang Public Organisation, will also address delegates. The conference will conclude with the installation of a new CSU team. Delegates are requested to arrive by 12 noon on February 3, 2026, and affiliated units must bring flags measuring 3×5 feet.
The three-day event promises a blend of cultural preservation, knowledge sharing, and youth engagement, reinforcing CSU’s commitment to nurturing Chakhesang identity and heritage.
