The Mokokchung District T20 Cricket Federation will be organizing the 7th edition of its Master Shield Cricket Tournament from 13 March at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung. MDT20CF has informed that the last date for submission of registration of forms for the tournament is 11 March.
Apart from Mokokchung, teams from Dimapur and Wokha are also expected to participate in the tournament, the organizers said. Trebuchet CC from Mokokchung are the defending champions of the tournament. The tournament is being organized with Nagaland Mines & Minerals as the official partner.
It was informed that the champions of the tournament will win the cash prize and certificates along with the trophy while the runners-up will win cash prize and certificates. Man of the Match Awards, Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Most Promising Player and Player of the Tournament will be the awards in the individual category, it was informed.
It was also informed that the tournament was delayed because of the state assembly elections held recently.
MDT20CF expresses displeasure at authorities
Meanwhile, the MDT20CF has expressed despair at the poor condition of the Imkongmeren Sports Complex. They also said that the playing condition of the pitch has deteriorated after hundreds of vehicles entered the venue during the recently held election process.
The organizers also stated that the concerned authorities did not attend to the litter after the election process and that they spent the whole day cleaning the complex on Thursday.
The MDT20CF also regretted that not only did the authorities not take care of the damaged playground after the election process but also did not bother to clean the venue littered by the election personnel involved. They also expressed disdain at the general lack of civic sense.
Further, MDT20CF has also appealed to the authorities not to allow entry of vehicles into the playground.
