A Special Prayer Gathering, organized by the Archdioceses of Kohima and Imphal and accommodated by CNC under the theme ‘Pilgrims of Hope’, was held at CHQ Hebron.

A congregation of more than 50 Naga priests and over 20 Naga nuns, representing various dioceses and parishes of Nagaland and Manipur, participated in the event. The Holy Eucharistic Ceremony of ‘Prayer for the Nation’ drew an estimated 900 delegates from numerous Catholic organizations in both Nagaland and Manipur.

The convener of the meeting, Rev Dr Fr Godfrey Vilasal Thapo, served as the main celebrant of the Eucharistic Mass. In his address, Rev Fr Kokto Kurien provided an exegesis of the theme, likening the Naga political journey to a pilgrimage. He emphasized that the Naga people are in search of peace, justice, truth, dignity, and a future reconciled with their past—a pursuit that the Catholic Church recognizes and honors.

The homily was delivered by Rev Dr Fr George Rino and Rev Fr Robert Somi, who underlined the significance of spiritual growth and the importance of sacrifice for the Kingdom of God. They urged the Naga community to pray more fervently as they stood at a crossroads.

The message of unity was reinforced, highlighting their common faith in Christ.

Invocation prayers and blessings for the collective leadership and members of the GPRN were imparted by all the priests present, led by the main celebrant. The PNCM Catechists and the Poumai Naga Catholic Women enriched the gathering with their melodious voices.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rev. Fr. Jacob Chapao and Dy. Ato Kilonser of GPRN.
