The 9th edition of Auto & MotoX, along with the Northeast Championship Round 2026, began today at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung. The two-day event features over 60 vehicles and 17 riders competing across multiple categories, with a total prize pool of Rs 3.5 lakh.

Organised by the Adventure and Motorsports Association Mokokchung (AMAM), the AutoX segment includes Open, Below 1300cc, and SUV categories, while the MotoX segment is divided into Beginner and Open categories. Performances from both days will be combined to determine the final results.

The AutoX segment was flagged off in the morning by Imkumwapang, District Transport Officer, Mon, and the MotoX segment followed at noon under the supervision of Longden Longkumer, Managing Director of LL Group, Nagaland. Addressing the participants, Longkumer stressed the importance of safety and driving skills, noting that Nagaland’s natural terrain provides ideal conditions for motorsports.

The event also paid tribute to the late Kamlesh Das, a motorsport enthusiast from Meghalaya who had regularly participated in AMAM events. The technical note was presented by Limazulu Kichu, and the welcome address was delivered by Toshi Kichu, Convenor of the 9th Auto & MotoX 2026.

Vehicle inspections began on February 5, and the competition will conclude on February 7 with a prize distribution ceremony to be attended by Wangpang Konyak, Advisor, Social Welfare. Sponsors include Nagaland Minerals & Mines, PitStop (Kohima), MG Dimapur, Ahibi, and Digi Printer.
