Adroit Boys Sechü Zubza edged past former champions Tehok FC with a 1–0 victory in the ongoing 9th Captain N Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, on Wednesday.
Despite both teams creating chances, it was the boys from Sechü Zubza who made their opportunities count. The breakthrough came in the 60th minute when Neikedozo capitalized on a swift attacking move to slot home the decisive goal for Adroit Boys.
Tehok FC pushed hard for an equalizer, creating several promising chances, but could not find the finishing touch. They struggled to break down the organized Sechü Zubza defense. In the end, Adroit Boys Sechü Zubza’s composure and tactical discipline saw them through to a well-deserved victory, boosting their confidence as the tournament progresses.
Earlier, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio graced the occasion as the inaugural guest, encouraging the players and honoring the legacy of Capt. N. Kenguruse, MVC, whose name the tournament proudly bears.
