Mokokchung, August 7 (MTNews): The Congress party has extended its solidarity and support to the 5th August 2022 Public Rally held in Dimapur demanding early settlement. Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) President K. Therie said in a statement that “people have defied money and power” and patted the people who attended the rally.
“Each step you have travelled and every minute you have stood in the heat to express solidarity to the demand for settlement to the Agreements, will not be buried alive,” Therie said. He said that it may take some time with the UDA government but, he added,” remember, UDA government is only in the hands of the people. Together we shall remove UDA and find the end result.”
Therie alleged that the State government and its allied forces have done all they could do to dislodge the Public Rally as usual. He said that they “announced the treacherous seat-sharing deal” after abandoning the Parliamentary Committee resolution of 16th July 2022 endorsing the Agreements and the 31st Oct 2019 conclusion of talks.
“Nagaland people deserve peace, One Govt and One Tax. People deserve justice and equality. People deserve a true welfare government. People deserve opportunities and employment. They have failed on all fronts, particularly in enforcing the law of the land,” Therie added.
Therie went on to say that 25 years of negotiation without settlement was deliberate and that it is not that they lack wisdom or have no option. “20 years of facilitation and support is a deliberate plan. Their main intentions are to rob the state exchequer and extort from the public,” Therie said. “If they do not want to accept the conditions of GOI and are determined to fight for flag and constitution, abrogate the ceasefire. Settle the score in a friendly match,” he added.
For Government of India, Therie said, ceasefire is solution. “They do not need any settlement. Remove the roadblock – UDA. Know your enemy,” Therie concluded.
