Mokokchung, August 14 (MTNews): In February 2022, a resolution was passed in the Dharam Sansad held at Prayagraj to make India a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ and the idea of a constitution for the same was floated, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) stated today.

Calling it as a “selfish draft”, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress (NPCC) President, K Therie condemned the February 2022 resolution where a draft of “Hindu Rashtra” constitution was proposed in the Dharam Sansad held at Prayagraj (Allahabad), UP. He alleged that it was an attempt to smother the fundamental rights of Christians, Muslims and other minorities.

NPCC stated that the first draft of the constitution of the Hindu nation or ‘Hindu Rashtra’ states that Kashi (Varanasi) will replace New Delhi as the country’s capital where a “Parliament of Religions” is planned to be built.

NPCC also stated that, according to the “Hindu Rashtra” draft constitution, Muslims and Christians would have access to all of the same rights as other citizens, barring the right to vote. Further, NPCC stated that the draft constitution stipulated that all citizens would be required to undergo military training and that agriculture would be exempt from all taxes.

The NPCC president alleged that this serious endeavor to establish a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ with the contribution of seers and scholars underlines the groundwork being executed to establish a Hindu nation with little or no regard for Christians, Muslims and other minorities.

“How can they propose to strip citizens of their voting rights because they are minorities? Such feudal ideas have no place in the progressing world arena. Under this regime, Christians, Muslims and other minorities will be reduced to soldiers and peasants,” Therie continued.

“Nagaland cannot be a part of such a constitution,” he said, and called upon the “secular minded” MLAs and MPs to wake up and defend secularism by withdrawing their support and denouncing the “draconian draft.”

It may be mentioned that a part of the “constitution of the Hindu Rashtra” is to be released at the Magh Mela 2023 in Prayagraj as per media reports. It is also reported that the cover page of the constitution carries a map of the proposed ‘Akhand Bharat’.
