Mokokchung, September 16 (MTNews): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) on Friday wrote to the Chief Minister stating that the government should implement transparent procedures in the NSSB examinations.

Stating that it was unable to comprehend why it is so difficult for the government to put in a system which will benefit hardworking and sincere students and pave the way for the establishment of a merit-based society, RPP suggested a few recommendations.

The party stated that it has been reminding the government that there should be no interview system in the NSSB selection process since written examination itself should suffice to choose candidates at this level.
. It cautioned the Government of Nagaland that conducting the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) in its present format would nullify the whole idea of transparency and fairness.

The RPP appealed to the government to consider using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets with carbon copy so as to aid the candidates to self-evaluate their marks and publish Correct Answer keys within a week in the local dailies after the examinations are conducted.

“You may be well aware that the interview system in the NPSC has led to no holds barred nepotism and corruption for decades on and it’s the desire of the lot that enough is enough; that meritocracy should prevail in competitive examinations henceforth,” it said.

“Legacy matters and perhaps it is important that we do what is right especially when the issue concerns the younger generation,” stated the representation which was appended by RPP Secretary Akum Longkumer and General Secretary Amai Chingkhu.
