Mokokchung, September 22 (MTNews): According to a notification from the political branch of the State Home Department, the Niuland district in Nagaland would be controlled under the Inner Line Permit (ILP) regulation as of October 1, 2022.

 

The department also stated that any non-indigenous individual visiting the Niuland district will require an ILP in the same way as it is required when entering the state’s ILP area.

 

“All non-indigenous persons who have settled or entered Niuland which was previously not covered under ILP, before the day of this notification and on or after November 21, 1979, when the area of Niuland was constituted as Tribal belt vide Land Revenue Department Notification No. LR/2-118/76 dated 21/11/1979, shall be required to obtain ILP in the same mode and manner and under the same condition as mentioned above within 90 days from the date of this notification,” the notification stated.

 

It also mentioned that non-indigenous persons who has settled or entered the area of Niuland which was not covered under ILP prior to November 21, 1979, and has been continuously, will be exempted along with their direct descendants, from requiring ILP. Evidence in the form of documents like entry of name in the E-roll, land/property documents, House tax, school records, trade licenses etc., to the DC Niuland will no longer be required to certify by the DC to obtain the ILP.

 

Additionally, if a non-indigenous person is travelling via Niuland to another state as a transit passenger and has a valid ticket, it was notified that they do not need to get ILP.
