Kohima, September 29 (MTNews): Nagaland will be participating in the 36th National Games, Gujarat 2022 to be held in Gujarat from 29th September – 12th October, 2022 in the disciplines of Archery, Athletics, Boxing and Wrestling.
An update from Nagaland Olympic Association informed that participation in the National Games in every event is possible only if the teams and individual athletes qualify through the criteria laid down by the respective National Sports Federations.
An 18-member contingent including 9 athletes will be representing the state in the National Games. The flag bearers for Nagaland team are Tsuchoi T and Zhokhoto Demo. Tsuchoi T from Noklak district is participating in the 5000m Athletics. She receivedthe Outstanding Sportswoman Award at the Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2022 by winning 5 Gold medals in Athletics. Zhokhoto Demo from Phek district is participating in the Indian Round Archery. He received the Outstanding Sportsman Award at the Nagaland Olympic & Paralympic Games 2022 by winning 5 Gold medals in Archery.
Further, NOA informed that two Technical Officials in Athletics have been selected by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) to officiate at the National Games.
The two Technical Officials are Vinolie Medom and Neikuosielie.
