Diphu, November 17 (MTNews): While attending the Karbi Anglong Day celebration as chief guest on Thursday at Taralangso, Diphu in Assam, the Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio stated that the NSCN-IM Ato Kilonser is in New Delhi meeting with representatives from the Government of India.

The Chief Minister also stated that as soon as a solution to the Naga political issue is found, the state legislators will willingly resign.

“We have 60 state legislators coming together to facilitate…we are waiting for a solution. Even if a solution is found, we are prepared to resign in exchange for alternative arrangements,” he adds.

“It is a democratic country. We will face the election, that time we will face the election again,” he continued.
Rio also told the audience that any inter-state border dispute between Nagaland and Assam should be resolved amicably within the two states.

“We must coexist. We must remain good neighbors,” said Rio, adding that unlike friends and enemies, we cannot change our neighbors.

Karbi Anglong Day was organized by the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) as an ode to the historic journey travelled in the past to commemorate the Karbi Anglong Autonomous District’s foundation day on 16-17 November 2022 at Ethnic Village, Taralangso, Diphu.

Rio later twitted: Happy to be part of the celebration of Karbi Anglong Day which commemorates the 71st District Foundation Day. The formation of the Council was a culmination of the struggle for preserving the political and tribal identity of the Karbis. When identity is lost, we lose everything.

“The Karbis & the Nagas have been good neighbours since time immemorial, with the villages of the Karbis & various Naga tribes intermingled & living in harmony. We should keep this good neighbourly relationship alive & strengthen it further in the days to come,” he added.
